In thinking back on my life the last 9 years, I want to tell y’all how thankful I am for living in community. Denver and I both have amazing friends from many different seasons of life, but church always pushed us to be in community with other believers. It is something that we took to heart at the beginning of our marriage!

That being said, when we got married we committed to joining a small group and have attended regularly the last nine years. You can choose to be very vulnerable and pour your heart and soul out in these meetings, which I felt like I did so many times.

I celebrated with these people! The highest highs! I’ll never forget being in one of the only “married with no kids” small group with six other amazing couples. Then Meredith told us she was having a baby! We all the followed suit. (Not before myself and another friend had a miscarriage. But ya know what? The group pulled us through!)

After five different groups (most of which had completely new faces!) we met some of the most incredible people. These friends saw us through so many great times.

And you know what? They showed up and showed out when Hudson passed away. They all carried us through (along with SO many other friends). But all this to say that I understand why the church tells you it’s so good to be in community. Because when the worst day of our life happened, they were there. And I know it was HARD. Many were at the hospital when we learned we lost him. The hardest thing a friend ever has to do. But that is something I will never forget and will forever be grateful for.

We had our last small group meeting with our most recent small group this week. These faces mean more to me than you’ll ever know. Thanks ALL of you for being on this journey with us.
